May 25, 2010 - New Gums Feel So Good!
Dear Dr. Horowitz,
I just wanted to write a quick note to tell you how happy I am with the results of my recent gum surgery. First of all, though I won't say it's not a bit uncomfortable having one's mouth stretched open at unusual angles, I was amazed at how well my pain was managed during the procedures. In fact, I experienced no pain at all. And the pain and swelling following the procedures were very manageable and short lived. I never had a need for prescription pain medication at all. I heeded your advice to apply ice and found that extremely helpful.
As far as the final results, I am amazed at how quickly my mouth has healed and how completely natural my new gums feel and look in my mouth. It really is remarkable.
Thanks so much, Miriam Serow

Bob I cannot say it with any more eloquence than to say, “I like to bite”. In all of the years that I have been around I have run the gamut of dental work. First as a young man, with little resources and even less money, I received economical dental work with one positive note, I was relieved of my pain but I was able to tune in a local radio station every time I put a fork in my mouth. Although not painful I found it very discomforting. Subsequently, when I was later able to afford better dentistry I was given a nice smile and no local tuning of radio stations along with the tinny taste in my mouth but I was always hesitant to bite down hard on anything. So I adjusted my palate to enjoy softer foods and thought myself the wiser for it. Then after a long arduous process of having you repair my mouth I found myself excited to finally have a good set of choppers. What happen next never occurred to me to be a result of your handiwork. I found myself craving crusty bread and the corners of pizza, the likes of which I always retired to the garbage receptacle in the past. Now I was reserving the crust for the very last bite when my belly was satisfied but my palate wasn’t. I remember my mother teaching me to chew each bite ten times, but I now chewed and chewed until I had obliterated every bit of that bite. Oh the joy of gnawing on something just for the sheer pleasure of it had eluded me for way too long. My teeth thank you, I thank you, it was well worth the hours of staring up at your face.
Thanks
Bob R.

Hi Dr. Horowitz. I was reading online your responses to Osseo News questions re: bone augmentation etc. and was very impressed although I knew much about you from my dentist. I was however unaware that you were involved in the research and development of graft materials. You certainly appear to the best in your field and a real innovator. I wonder if all your patients appreciate the depth of your knowledge. I hope they do.
- Lou
